The Crib!

It's offical, we have a crib...very sureal. Every time I catch a glimpse into the nursery I always have to take a second look and take in what it will be like to have a little person living in there. :) I can't wait!

We got our crib from Walmart. I originally wanted this one, but decided I would save a few HUNDRED dollars and get this one instead and I couldn't be happier with saving my pennies and finding something I still really like. :)
I enjoyed sitting while Russ put the entire thing together by himself. I helped a little but he did all the hard stuff.

Proud of his work :)

Feb. Update

The last week in January Russell had the opportunity to travel to China for his job! He got to visit all the factories where they make the tape and paper and adhesive for all of KT Tape. He had a lot of fun. I would have been very sad with out Skype! I was happy we still got to talk to each other even though he was so far away.

For Valentine's day we decided to save a little money and make dinner at home together. It wasn't anything special. We bought steaks and went to Farr's for ice cream and then watched Money Ball. It was a great day.

The last few weeks we have been spending time budgeting for baby and planning what we need to purchase. (Basically everything) We decided to go to Ikea on the hunt for a dresser. We found one that we think will work great! I can't wait!

Russ putting the dresser together! :)
All put together! The nursery is all coming together! I will do a post on everything once it is all the way done!
Then my fabulous friend Jen put together a breakfast for all of our friends to get together and catch up on each of our lives! It was way fun! We were sad that a few of our friends couldn't make it! Gotta love growing up and staying in touch with all our high school buddies!
Last but not least here are the latest pages of my maternity book! I love how it's coming together! I can't wait to see it all put together and on paper!

January 2012

I've been reading this book.
I love it! It is like a Law and Order: SVU episode on CRACK! If you can't handle reading about rape then do not read this book! It's a tough one! I really liked it though! I will deffinately be reading the rest from the series.

The highlight of this month was our anniversary. Russ and I went to Fetal Fotos and found out the sex of our baby! Such a fun anniversary present for ourselves! Our little guy is a mover! He was posing for the camera like crazy! He already knows that I will make him pose for pictures if he likes it or not!

Then we went to Ruth's Chris in Salt Lake and man is that food AMAZING! If you have the $ to spare, then go there! I absolutely loved it and so did Russ :) Don't worry, this is the ONLY picture we took all day! :( I am crazy! I need to be better about taking pictures of my personal life!
After finding out the sex of our baby, Russ and I decided it would be fun to have a gender reveal party at our apartment. We figured it would be a good way to let people see where we live now and a fun way to tell everyone the news of what we are having! It was so fun cramming everyone into our tiny apartment! We had so many people come support us! It was a blast!

I made cake pops! I was a little nervous to take on the challenge, but they turned out pretty good!

Its a boy!

Here are the latest pages from my maternity book :)

Our first apartment...

Despite the copper colored carpet, the ants, the toilet that doesn't quite flush right, the non-existent bathroom counter, the hard as concrete walls, and the three day wait for cable and Internet, I'm happy to call this place home for the next chapter of our lives. Now we will have a room for baby and a place for a kitchen table. (along with more bills to pay) We couldn't be happier! I will post pictures as soon as I find a way to hang pictures on our crumbling concrete walls! Happy new year everyone!

Baby Book

Ok we all now know, I am no good at posting on my personal blog! I will get better! I promise! (New Year's resolution!)

Well everyone, or almost everyone knows we are expecting our first baby on June 26th of 2012! We are so excited! I have been working on a baby book to keep some sort of journal of my pregnancy. ( I am hating that my mom didn't do anything like this! I am needing her opinion and she doesn't remember anything about her pregnancies!) Hopefully my girls will be grateful I've done this one day. If not, I will enjoy it :) I got the idea from Hanna Mac but all the images and designs are mine :)

72 hr kits

The last few weeks Russell and I have decided we should probably put together our 72 hr kits. Did you know there are 6,345,456,983,235 lists online to help you put your 72 hr kit together? Ok so I kind of just made that number up but, seriously there are a ton! There are so many that we had to remind ourselves to narrow it down a bit. This is our near end result.
We got:
Rope
Bungee cords
Knife
Tarp
Battery powered phone charger
Battery powered clock w/extra batteries
Small flashlight w/ extra batteries
Work gloves
Ponchos
Scissors
Toothbrushes
Toothpaste
Deodorant
Wet wipes
Contact solution
Extra pair of contacts
Feminine hygiene
Toilet paper
Duct tape
First aid kit
Aspirin
Small blanket
Trail mix
Granola bars
Case of water(we plan to just keep that in the trunks of my car)
$$(not too much)
Change of clothes for each of us

We spent probably close to $100 putting these together. We will load everything into two backpacks we can both easily carry. We are also going to go through them every conference weekend and replace anything that has expired.

Feeling very prepared :)

Our Summer Activities

This summer was a blast! The highlight was definitely going to California!
We went to a San Diego Padres game and Russell was like a little kid in a candy store! It was fun seeing him like that!

We also go the chance to go to the Tim McGraw concert!
He was seriously an arms length away from us! It was so sweet! Check out those arms! Mmmm! :)

We also got the opportunity to watch the little girls I babysit for 10 days while their parents were in Greece! I had a blast! I'm not sure how Russ felt about being a temporary parent but I loved it!

Our First Post (not really)

I have had a blog (for photography) for almost 4 years now. Russell and I were married in January 2011 and I figure it's finally time I start a personal blog as well. Really it's for me to feel better about not writing in a journal as often as I should. Hopefully on here I am more likely to record the events in our life. Russell is currently at BYU working to get his business degree and I am a part time nanny babysister. (Nanny implies that I take care of the children more than their parents do, and this is far from true. They are fabulous parents and I hope I can be a least half the mother she is to my own children some day! :) Russell works for the company KT Tape and he says he enjoys it. I believe him. We are living in a tiny little apartment above my parents garage and we love it here. One of these days I will post pictures of all the fun things we are doing to decorate it. Ikea has received a large amount of our paychecks over the last few months though. I love it here. I think Russ does too.
